Game 138: Mets vs. Braves @ Shea Stadium

The Mets already had already had one great day before the second game of today's double header got started. It only got better. Oliver Perez, coming off two consecutive poor outings pitched the game of his life. Holding the Braves to just five hits, he would go on to throw his second career shutout and would get his first win as a Met. Also, starting right where he left off in the first game, Shawn Green would collect another three hits and a home run. Jose Reyes would homer to start off the scoring, followed by an rbi single from Julio Franco. In the following inning, Chris Woodward would hit a two rbi double. The inning would be capped by Endy Chavez after his triple to center would drive in two more runs. The Mets would cruise to an 8-0 win and a sweep of the double header. They would prove resilient once again as they bounced back to take the series from the Braves. The Atlanta curse sure seems to be coming to a close.
Final Score: Mets 8, Braves 0. Record: 86-52. Magic Number: 9

Notes: Jose Reyes would hit yet another leadoff home run in the first inning. Carlos Beltran stole his 17th base in the first inning. Shawn Green hit his first two home runs as a met, his 12th and 13th. He has been lookin solid as of late. It was the first double header sweep of the Braves for the Mets since 1988. Florida Marlin rookie, Anibal Sanchez, threw a no hitter against the Arizona Diamondbacks tonight. It is the first no-hitter in the major leagues since Randy Johnson's perfect game in 2004.
