Game 2: Mets vs. Nationals @ Shea Stadium

We got off to a great start tonight but ended sour. Bannister was hitless through 5 and then a three run shot by Nick Johnson ruined it. Anderson Hernandez with an amazing catch in this game. With his back towards the infield, he sprawled himself across the outfield with a beautiful dive. Carlos Delgado also hit a bomb to put us ahead. However, Wagner couldn't shut the door in the ninth as he gave up the tying homerun on a high fastball to Ryan Zimmerman. Wags also didn't seem to have his best stuff. Julio stunk it up in the 10th and we weren't able to recover. This is what we traded Kris & Anna Benson for? A game we should have won. Final score: Mets 5, Nats 9. Record: 1-1.

Game 1: Mets vs. Nationals @ Shea Stadium - Opening Day

Opening Day finally arrived. WIth Pedro hurt, Glavine stepped up big time. Nady goes 4-4 in his first game as a Met and Wright gets off to a fast start with a line drive home run to right. Loduca also makes the play of the game as he hides a bobble from the umpire and the tying run is not allowed to score (Floyd to Reyes to Loduca). Wagner is also showcased and the game ends on a Carlos Beltran assist to second base. Good start for the entire team, played good fundamental baseball. Final Score: Mets 2, Nats 1. Record: 1-0

In an attempt the capture the dog days of summer and the long baseball season, I will keep a diary of each individual ballgame this season. Will this be the year? We have definitely made many critical additions and are poised to make a run at the division title. Here's to a championship, Let's Go Mets!
